Many riders using Carpuride devices with the BM05 bracket on motorcycles encounter frequent shutdowns and reboots. Don't worry—these issues are often caused by unstable connections or power supply. Follow these general troubleshooting steps to quickly diagnose and resolve the problem.
Step 1: Check the BM05 Bracket Connection
Connection issues are a common cause of reboots. Before proceeding, ensure the connection is secure.
-
Inspect the Pin: Check if the pin on the BM05 bracket is broken, deformed, or missing.
-
Align the Device: When mounting the device, ensure that the pin and device port align perfectly, with no misalignment, looseness, or poor connection.
Step 2: Power Supply Troubleshooting
The cause of the issue can vary depending on the power supply method. Use the relevant troubleshooting steps based on your setup, which applies to all Carpuride motorcycle CarPlay products.
Case 1: Powered by USB Cable
-
New Device / First-Time Use Reboots: Switch to using the power cable for power. If the issue resolves, the USB port voltage may be insufficient. It’s recommended to use the power cable for long-term use.
-
Previously Worked Fine, Recently Started Rebooting: Troubleshoot in two steps:
-
Check the motorcycle’s USB port. Test by plugging and unplugging the USB cable to see if there’s a poor connection. Clean any dust in the port and try again. Alternatively, test the device on another motorcycle or use a home adapter to see if the issue persists. If the device works fine with another port, the motorcycle's USB port may be the issue.
-
If the port is fine, the USB cable may be damaged. Try replacing it with a new one and see if that resolves the issue.
-
Case 2: Powered by Power Cable
-
Check Power Cable Connection: Inspect the connection between the power cable and the motorcycle's battery. Ensure there are no loose connections. Tighten the connection and secure it with tape.
-
If the Connection is Secure: Test the device using a USB cable and a home fast charger. If the device works correctly, it indicates the power cable is damaged, and a replacement is needed.
Step 3: Ultimate Troubleshooting (If Above Steps Fail)
If issues persist with both power methods, it’s time to check the motorcycle’s power supply or the device’s hardware. This applies to all BM05-compatible devices.
Test Motorcycle Battery Voltage: Use a multimeter to check the motorcycle battery’s voltage. A normal reading should be around 12V.
- If the Voltage is Low: This is a motorcycle power supply issue. Contact a repair professional for vehicle maintenance.
- If the Voltage is Normal: The issue could lie within the device itself. Contact Carpuride customer service to request a device inspection or replacement.
Tips:
Some Carpuride models don’t support OTA updates and cannot resolve this issue through software upgrades. If your device has OTA functionality, ensure it’s running the latest software version before troubleshooting.
